Developing Our World is a non-profit service organization working towards the sole purpose of holistic community development. The organization has been active in Guatemala for more than two years and a track record of successful community development projects. One of the primary goals of the organization is to help the locals of Guatemala to get to know Jesus and share the message of God’s love with them.

Guatemala is one of the most visited destinations when it comes to short-term mission trips. Most American Christians and non-profit organizations go to Guatemala for mission trips to promote religious beliefs as well education and means of proper housing.

The current situation of Guatemala

Located in Central America and bordered by El Salvador and Mexico, Guatemala features desert, hilly valleys, and the Pacific coast. The country enjoys the position of being the largest economy in Central America. Where the country is rich with geographical biodiversity, and some social and economic issues. The country is known for its stable and continued economic stability, but it also has stagnated growth acceleration. Poverty and inequality are still the regnant social and community issues.

The spread of the Coronavirus pandemic contributed to the intensification of the prevalent economic decline. The pandemic led to contracting the economic condition by 3%, resulting in more than 6 percentage points increase in deep-rooted poverty. The precarious health system of the country added to the worsening of the social conditions. The lack of necessary resources has affected the vulnerable locals, with more than 1.2 million people in need of emergency food aid and medical help.

How DOW is contributing to the cause

Developing Our World is organizing a mission trip to Guatemala to lift up vulnerable people and contribute to improving their lives. There is no restriction on who can participate and become a part of a bigger purpose. The trip promises gratifying experience and a chance to feel God’s love in your life. Since the country faces an increased number of cases, our teams will be equipped with proper safety tools and equipment while adhering to the Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) guidelines released by the government.

We facilitate the teams with proper hotel and accommodation services. Considering the current pandemic situation, we make sure the mission's participants are virus-free with a thorough testing procedure. If you are vaccinated, even better will be for you to go. The teams will be provided with quality transportation services to help them travel to underdeveloped areas. Since the Guatemalans speak and understand Spanish, their native language, the mission participants will be guided by the translator. The mission trip provides them the opportunity to experience the country’s beauty and historical value through the insights and expertise of the locals. The total amount of the mission trip ranges from $1,200 to $1,800, including the cost of hotel service bookings. The Executive Director of Developing Our World will lead the trip. Note: this price don't include airfare.
